How Online Card Present (OCP) Works
A player, one time, uses a Vivopay card reader to read their debit card’s Track 1 and Track 2 data. The encrypted card information is securely transferred via Bluetooth to the Consumer Terminal Checkout app on an iPhone or Android device, creating an Online Card Present (OCP) transaction. The VIVOpay is not needed again, and the player can make as many OCP bets with their encrypted card as they want.
Example Comparison:
- A player places a $50,000 OCP wager, and the gaming operator’s payment processing cost is approximately $25.
- A comparable $50,000 online card-not-present (CNP) wager may cost the gaming operator approximately $5,000 in processing fees, fraud losses, chargebacks, and related costs.
- If the player loses a $50,000 OCP wager and later files a “No Knowledge” dispute, the issuing bank can verify that the transaction was completed as an Online Card Present transaction, significantly reducing the likelihood of a successful dispute.
- By comparison, with a traditional online card-not-present transaction, a losing player may file a “No Knowledge” dispute. Depending on the circumstances and available evidence, these disputes can be more difficult for the losing player to defend.
